side trip to Rosebud and Point Nepean

whuiii – At friday night I did my really first trip outside of Melbourne! Armin, a german bavarian guy, got a “night at the beach with fire” as a present of some “Circus and Live Performance” friends (you can study this at Swinburne). So we (Rebecca – German, Steve, Zach, Ben – American and me) rent a car and drove up to Rosebud, where Armin was with his friends already. Or I drove on the “false site of the road”. No, I did a good job. Except of driving too often not in the middle of the street or activate the wiper instead of indicator. It was so great there. Just a little fireplace and good german sausages and “Stockbrot” with guitar/didgeridoo/flute music. Nearly everybody tried out to play the didgeridoo that night. And guess what: I got a perfect sound out of it!

The sky was full of stars and a few km away was Melbourne covered in lights. At around 2am we saw the red lighten moon standing really close to the city. What a fantastic picture – I never saw something like this before!

One other great activitiy came also from the circus-people: Playing around with fire at the beach. With such fire batons and skipping rope on fire. Right, we didn’t just watch – we also hoped in the skipping ropes. So nice!

After a uncomfortable night in the car we packed out stuff before the ranger came. Áfterwards Rebecca, Steve and Armin took a quick and cold bath in the sea and others spend time with riding a unicycle or…

For the rest of the day, we decided to drive to Point Nepean, because it was early in the morning and we had to drop off the car at 5pm. At Point Nepean we saw fortifications from 1880, point lonsdale (the other edge of the entrance to port Melbourne) and the “neverending” ocean on the other side. Beautiful nature. I wanna see more, now!

kangaroo meat

Just for record: Last week I tried out kangaroo meat for the first time. I have to say that it is okay. Not that fantastic, but also not bad. It just smells a bid strange during cooking.
